55+ Community Activities Director

Only what I call “Premier” communities have an Activities Director, also referred to as a Lifestyle Director.

How To Qualify

To qualify for my “premier” designation a community will have extensive amenities, usually indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball, tennis and boccie ball courts, a large clubhouse and fitness center, and an Activities Director.

What Do They Do

The Lifestyle Director organizes clubs, activities, events, and trips, usually day trips but sometimes overnights and cruises too. They also are charged with dispensing information regarding any issues affecting the community such as weather events, traffic issues, safety issues and more. Communication is a key function of the Activities Director.

While not typically a community resident, an experienced Lifestyle Director has extensive knowledge of the area the community is in as well as dining options and vendors such as caterers, tent and chair rentals, entertainment options from live music, and comedians to murder mystery theaters which will come to the community to perform. The activities director will also facilitate life long learning and invite a variety of lecturers on varied events to address the community. If you can dream it up the Lifestyle Director can make it happen.

In short, the Activities Director is the lifeblood of the social scene, and will organize, and execute the details to make any event a success and within budget.

The Lifestyle Director adds to the cost of the HOA dues but in my opinion well worth the cost for what they add to community social life.
